Seaweed Caulerpa – Value Added Products – Training of Trainer
7-15 Dec 2023 Honiara, Solomon Islands

Recently, our founder Maria Gigih collaborated with WWF Pacific Solomon Islands to conduct a transformative training program aimed at empowering communities and stakeholders in the Solomon Islands. The focus is to maximizing the value of sea grapes, also known as Caulerpa, a vital marine resource abundant across the region. With a spotlight on the Western Province, Maria and the WWF team led a series of tailored workshops, addressing crucial objectives ranging from marine biodiversity awareness to value addition techniques for seaweed-based products.

During these workshops, participants not only gained practical skills in crafting Caulerpa-based products but were also nurtured into trainer mentors ready to uplift their local communities. Through this collaborative effort, Maria and WWF Pacific Solomon Islands are driving positive change and fostering sustainable development in the Solomon Islands.

This partnership exemplifies the power of collaboration in advancing sustainable practices and community empowerment. By combining expertise and resources, we are not only imparting valuable knowledge but also nurturing a new generation of leaders equipped to drive meaningful change. As the program continues to unfold, its impact will reverberate across the Solomon Islands, empowering individuals, supporting local economies, and safeguarding precious marine resources for generations to come.
